ITEM 15: RC0226 ON D/T3800 AFTER UPGRADING PSF MAINT **************************************************************** 1. * MSGAPS532I * COULD BE SEVERAL CAUSES, READ ALL - LOOK FOR A $TPRTXX C= OR $SPRTXX C= COMMAND IN THE CONSOLE LOG AROUND THE TIME THE FAILURE STARTED. IF THE INFO IN THE C= IS THE SAME AS IN THE APS532I MSG THEN THIS IS THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. FOR INSTANCE, MSGAPS532I INDICATES THAT PAGEDEF P1A CANNOT BE FOUND. THE CONSOLE SHOWS THAT THE OPERATOR ENTERED A C=A PARM IN THE $TPRT C= COMMAND. IF THE OPERATOR WAS EXPECTING TO CHANGE THE PRINTER CLASS, THEN $TPRT Q= OR $SPRT Q= WILL CHANGE THE CLASS AND NOT THE FCB. JES RESOURCE SELECTION OVERRIDES THE PSF PRINTDEV DEFAULTS. A JES FCB IS ONE OF THESE RESOURCES. P1A P1S P1Q ARE SOME OF THE PAGEDEFS REPORTED AS MISSING. THE CLUE IS THAT A S Q ARE COMMONLY USED CLASSES. - MSGAPS532I ISSUED WHEN A NAMED RESOURCE (FONT, OVERLAY, PAGE SEGMENT, FORMDEF OR PAGEDEF ) CANNOT BE FOUND IN THE RESOURCE LIBRARIES ACCESSED THROUGH THE PSF STARTUP PROC. CHECK THE USER'S JCL, JES INIT PRINTDEF AND PRTXX PARMS PLUS THE PSF PROC TO SEE IF THERE IS A TYPO IN THE PARM SPECIFICATION. - MSGAPS532I RETURN CODE X'0004' REASON CODE X'00000000' RETURN CODE X'0008' REASON CODE X'00000000' ISSUED WHEN LNKLST DIRECTORIES HAVE BEEN MODIFIED/ CHANGED AND THE LLA ( LNKLST LOOKASIDE ) COPY IN STORAGE NO LONGER MATCHES THE REAL DIRECTORY. CUSTOMERS MAY FIND THAT THE PROBLEM TEMPORARILY GOES AWAY IF THEY RE-IPL. INSTEAD OF IPLING, ISSUE THE 'MODIFY LLA,REFRESH' COMMAND. IF THIS DOES NOT CURE THE PROBLEM, CONTACT 'PAM' LEVEL2 SUPPORT WITH THE FOLLOWING INFO: NUC MAP, WHERE IN STORAGE DOES IGC018 EXIST, WHAT LEVEL IS IGC018? COMPID OF PAM IS 566529522. - WE HAVE FOUND THAT SOME CUSTOMERS ARE USING THE DEFRAG FUNCTION ( DF/DSS ) WHICH COMPRESSES THE DISK PACK. PSF RESOURCE DATA SETS HAVE DISPOSITION = SHR. IF THE DATA SETS ARE MOVED ON THE DISK PACK, THE PSF POINTERS TO THE RESOURCES BECOME INVALID. IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED THAT CUSTOMERS USE DEFRAG AGAINST PSF LIBRARIES. SEE DOC APAR OY00592 FOR MORE INFORMATION REGARDING PSF RESOURCES AND THEIR EXPOSURES. THE LLA REFRESH OR RE-IPL WILL RESOLVE THE IMMEDIATE PROBLEM. Another symptom of defragging a volume is MSGAPS522I. - APS532I *** WITH RETURN CODE X'04' REASON CODE X'00' AND USING DCF MAY NEED TO APPLY PP42181. - APS532I * WITH RETURN CODE X'04' X'5A' RECORDS ARE GETTING TRUNCATED WHEN PASSING DATA ACROSS RSCS - SEE VM APAR VM31978 2. * D/T3820 DUPLEX PRINTING * INCORRECT STACKING PROBLEMS ON D/T3820 WHEN DUPLEXING WITH EDGE SENSITIVE PAPER ( PUNCH HOLES ), CHECK THAT THE 3820 CONFIGURATION OPTION 731 HAS BEEN SPECIFIED CORRECTLY. REFERENCE THE 3820 OPERATORS GUIDE. 3. * 3800M3 DATA STREAMING PROBLEMS * IMPROPER CONFIGURATION OF THE DATA STREAMING FEATURE CAN CAUSE ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING MESSAGES TO BE ISSUED INVALIDLY: MSGAPS702I MSGAPS731I MSGAPS733I MSGAPS816I MSGAPS815I MSGAPS734I THIS OCCURS WHEN EITHER THE DATA STEAMING FEATURE IS ENABLED ON THE PRINTER AND THE IOCP GEN ON THE SYSTEM DOES NOT SPECIFY DATA STREAMING, OR, IF THE IOCP GEN DOES SPECIFY DATA STREAMING AND THE STREAMING FEATURE IS NOT INSTALLED OR ENABLED. THESE ERRORS CAN ALSO OCCUR WHEN THE FEATURE AND GEN ARE INSTALLED AND SET UP CORRECTLY. TO DETERMINE IF DATA STREAMING IS THE PROBLEM, DISABLE THE FEATURE AND RETEST. IF THE DATA STREAMING FEATURE IS FOUND TO BE THE PROBLEM, REFER TO THE PROPER HARDWARE SUPPORT GROUP FOR RESOLUTION. 4. * ABEND024 RC0C20 * THIS ABEND OCCURS AS A RESULT OF THE DUMP= PARM IN THE PRINTDEV STATEMENT MATCHING AN ERROR MESSAGE. THIS PARM MAY HAVE BEEN INADVERTENTLY LEFT IN THE PRINTDEV STATEMENT TO RESOLVE A PREVIOUS PROBLEM. IF YOU NO LONGER WANT A DUMP FOR THE GIVEN MESSAGE/ERROR SITUATION, REMOVE THE CONDITIONAL DUMP SPECIFICATION. 5. * ASID MARKED AS NONREUSABLE IN XMS * REFERENCE OZ64038 FOR DETAILED EXPLANATION OF THE ASID BEING MARKED AS NONREUSABLE IN A XMS MEMORY ENVIRONMENT. 6. * MSGHASP700 * FSA FAILED TO CONNECT * ABENDS MAY OCCUR AFTER APPLYING MAINTENANCE TO JES2. IF THE UPGRADED JES MODULE HASPFSSM IS RETRIEVED VIA A //STEPLIB DD STATEMENT IN THE JES PROC, THAT SAME STEPLIB DD MUST BE IN THE PSF CATALOGED PROCEDURE. 7. MSGAPS050I - MESSAGE APS050I CONTAINS EITHER SYSTEM COMPLETION CODE 024, 027 OR 0A6 AND A PSF ABEND REASON CODE. SOME APARS MAY BE MISSING THE MESSAGE IN THEIR PROBLEM DESCRIPTION AND STRUCTURED SEARCH FIELDS. DELETE THE MSGID IN ORDER TO GET MORE APAR HITS. 8. APSUX04 COPIES=>1 ** MULTIPLE COPIES MEANS MULTIPLE TRANSMISSIONS. USE APSUECA - ECATRNC, TO DETERMINE THE NUMBER OF COPIES ALREADY PROCESSED AND APSUECE - ECETXMS, TO DETERMINE THE NUMBER OF COPIES REQUIRED. EACH TRANS- MISSION NEEDS TO BE TREATED AS A NEW DATASET. ANY FLAGS SET AND CLEARED DURING THE PROCESSING OF THE FIRST TRANSMISSION, MAY, HAVE TO BE RESET FOR THE NEXT TRANSMISSION. 9. ABEND024 RC02F8 or RC0620 when initializing CHANNEL ATTACHED AFP1 printers (3825, 3827, 3828, 3835, 3900) in V1.3.0 (HAF1228) can be caused by the AFP1 EREP module IGE0000E not being present in LPA because it was not copied into LPALIB during INSTALLATION of PSF, or because a CLPA was not done at IPL time afterwards. In PSF V2.1.0 (HPRF102), V2.1.1, V2.2.0 (HPRF220) and all subsequent releases of PSF, IGE0000E "MUST" reside in SYS1.LINKLIB at IPL time. MSGIEA301I identifying IGE0000E will be issued if is not present in LINKLIB. 10. MSGAPS922I WITH VTAM CODE X'0000' AND SNA SENSE X'0000' WITH TEXT OF ' SESSION PARM INVALID ' IN THE MESSAGE OCCURS FOR PSF VTAM ATTACHED PRINTERS - INCLUDING D/T3812 D/T3816 D/T3820 AND D/T3825 D/T3835 AND D/T3827. THIS MESSAGE IS COMMONLY ISSUED AS A RESULT OF THE VTAM LOGON MODE TABLE ENTRY BEING BUILT INCORRECTLY. THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM MOST OFTEN IS A MISSING END DELIMITER COMMA AFTER THE LAST PARAMETER IN AN INPUT SOURCE STATEMENT IN THE MODE ENTRY DEFINITION SOURCE OR BECAUSE A SOURCE STATEMENT IS NOT CONTINUED IN THE CORRECT CARD COLUMN (16). IT CAN ALSO BE ISSUED BECAUSE AN INCORRECT LOGON MODE TABLE ENTRY IS BEING USED (E.G. ONE FOR A DIFFERENT TYPE PRINTER OR ATTACHMENT) OR A VALUE IN THE MODE TABLE ENTRY HAS BEEN INCORRECTLY CODED. THERE ARE NO ERROR MESSAGES ISSUED DURING THE ASSEMBLY, AS INCORRECTLY DELIMITED OR CONTINUED STATEMENTS ARE TREATED AS COMMENTS AND THE VALUES FOR THE PARAMETERS ARE NOT CHECKED FOR SYNTAX. IN ADDITION, IF THE MICROCODE LEVELS FOR THE PRINTER, D/T3174, D/T3274 OR PS/2 ARE NOT CORRECT, THIS MAY ALSO RESULT IN THE MESSAGE BEING ISSUED. FOR DETAILS ON HOW TO CODE THE LOGON MODE TABLE ENTER FOR YOUR SPECIFIC PRINTER CONNECTIONS SEE THE PSF/MVS SYSTEM PROGRAMMER'S GUIDE FOR YOUR RELEASE OF PSF. FOR DETAILS ON REQUIRED MICROCODE LEVELS FOR THE PRINTER, D/T3174 AND D/T3274 SEE THE PSF/MVS PROGRAM DIRECTORY AND II02083 IN ADDITION TO THE ANNOUNCEMENT LETTER FOR YOUR PRINTER. ANOTHER CAUSE OF THIS ERROR HAS BEEN FOUND TO BE THE SETTING OF OPTION NUMBER 160 IN THE D/T3274 CONFIGURATION SUPPORT D. OPTION 160 IS CALLED EXTENDED DATA STREAM AND IT SHOULD BE SET TO ONE (1) NOT ZERO. PLEASE SEE THE IBM 3270 INFORMATION DISPLAY SYSTEM: 3274 CONTROL UNIT CUSTOMIZING GUIDE CONFIGURATION SUPPORT D MANUAL (NUMBER GA230065-6) FOR MORE INFORMATION. Yet another cause for the SESSION PARM INVALID error has been found. Coding FEATUR2=EDATS in the NCP definition when using SDLC lines can cause this error. FEATUR2 can be coded in the GROUP, LINE, PU or LU statements in the NCP definition. MSGAPS922I WITH VTAM CODE X'1001' AND SNA SENSE X'0835' WHEN STARTING A D/T3935 FOR THE FIRST TIME. THIS IS CAUSED BY HAVING A MODENAME (MODE NAME) SPECIFIED IN THE ATTACHMENT CONFIGURATION ON THE DEVICE ITSELF (NOT IN PSF PRINTDEV OR VTAM DEFINITIONS). REMOVING THE MODE NAME AND RE'IMLing THE DEVICE FIXES THIS PROBLEM. 11. FAIL TO DUPLEX OR BLANK PAGE PRINTING GDDM OUTPUT * REFERENCE GDDM APAR PL32124 * THIS PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN USING AN APPLICATION PROGRAM WITH CALLS TO GDDM/PGF TO PRODUCE OUTPUT AND FORCE THE OUTPUT DIRECTLY TO A PSF PRINTER. IF THE OUTPUT IS DIRECTED TO A CUTSHEET PRINTER AND A FORMDEF FOR DUPLEXING HAS BEEN SPECIFIED TO PSF, THE OUTPUT WILL BE PRINTED IN SIMPLEX. IF THE OUTPUT IS DIRECTED TO CONTINUOUS FORMS PRINTER, BLANK PAGES WILL OCCUR IF AN EJECT TO FRONT FACING IS SPECIFIED. THE OUTPUT GENERATED BY GDDM, CONTAINS A BEGIN DOCUMENT AND AN END DOCUMENT STRUCTURED FIELD FOR EACH PAGE OF OUTPUT. A USER CIRCUMVENTION FOR THIS PROBLEM WOULD BE TO CODE THE PSF RECORD EXIT, APSUX04, TO IGNORE THE BDT AND EDT STRUCTURED FIELDS FOR THIS TYPE OF OUTPUT. 12. IF ABEND024 RC020B IS RECEIVED, CHECK THE STORCLAS ACS ROUTINE. THERE HAS TO BE A FILTLIST FOR DASD_UNITS AND TAPE_UNITS. THE SELECT STATEMENT NEEDS AN EXCLUDE FOR NON-DASD AND NON-TAPE AS PER THE EXAMPLE IN THE STARTER SET ACS ROUTINES FOUND AT THE END OF THE STORAGE ADMINISTRATION REFERENCE. ALSO REFERENCE OY32190. SMS An OEM called DASDPOOL can also cause this problem if PSF is NOT EXCLUDED from its use. Contact the vendor for proper setup to prevent this problem. ************************************************************* 13. IBM SUPPLIED FORMDEF F1IBM DOES NOT PRINT USING THE O1IBM OVERLAY. THIS IS BECAUSE THE OVERLAY IS NOT SPECIFIED IN THE SUBGROUP. THIS OVERLAY IS MERELY THE IBM LOGO AND IS NOT USED FOR THE IVP NOR IS IT REQUIRED BY MOST CUSTOMERS. THIS RESOURCE IS INTENDED ONLY AS A SAMPLE AND WILL NOT BE FIXED WITH AN APAR. 14. NOT PRINTING WITH UPDATE VERSIONS OF PSF RESOURCES. LIBRARIES MANAGED BY PSF ARE READ AT PSF INITIALIZATION TIME AND THE DIRECTORIES OF THOSE LIBRARIES ARE PLACED IN VIRTUAL STORAGE OF THE PSF ADDRESS SPACE. WHEN THESE LIBRARIES ARE UPDATED, THE CHANGES ARE NOT PICKED UP IMMEDIATELY. IT WILL BE NECESSARY TO DRAIN THE PRINTER AND RESTART THE FSA BEFORE THE MODIFIED RESOURCE CAN BE USED. THIS SITUATION WILL ONLY OCCUR WHEN A RESOURCE IS REPLACED WITH A RESOURCE OF THE SAME NAME. 15 After upgrading maintenace for PSF to around 9906+ customers report experiencing Abend024 RC0226 on D/T3800 printers. Increasing BUFNO in the PRINTDEV for the printer to 10 resolves this.
