  ERROR DESCRIPTION:
  ************************* INDEX ********************************
SECTION A - JOBS NOT PURGED
  SECTION B - NONPROCESS RUNOUT
SECTION C - OTHER PRINTERS IDLE
  SECTION D - COPYMARK / OFFSET STACKING
  SECTION E - STEPLIB
SECTION F - CANCELLING THE PSF ADDRESS SPACE - FSS
  SECTION G - SOFTWARE MAINTENANCE
SECTION H - PAPER JAM RECOVERY PROCEDURE
  ****************************************************************

A - JOBS DO NOT PURGE FROM THE SPOOL

PSF DOES NOT RELEASE THE DATASET BACK TO JES UNTIL
THE LAST PAGE OF A JOB HAS REACHED THE STACKER.
   * NOTE *
SOME PRINTERS HAVE A FEATURE CALLED EPC (EARLY PRINT
      COMPLETE) eg, D/T3912, D/T3916, D/T3130 etc.
IF YOU HAVE ONE OF THE ABOVE TYPE PRINTERS, IT IS POSSIBLE
FOR THE PRINT JOB TO BE PURGED FROM JES PRIOR TO THE PRINT
JOB COMPLETING AT THE PRINTER. AS LONG AS THE PRINTER IS
NOT POWERED OFF, PRINT IS GUARANTEED TO COMPLETE. SOME
PRINTERS MAY HAVE EPC AS A SELECTABLE OPTION WHICH IS
CONTROLLED BY THE CONFIGURATION. CHECK YOUR PRINTER
MANUAL FOR FURTHER INFORMATION ON THIS FEATURE.

  B - NONPROCESS RUNOUT ( NPRO )
IF THERE IS NO MORE WORK FOR THE PRINTER, THE LAST DATASET
MAY NOT MOVE TO THE STACKER. THIS IS DUE TO THE ACTION
      REQUESTED BY THE NPRO PARAMETER.
IF THE NPRO VALUE IS SET TO 1, THEN PSF WILL INITIATE A
      NON-PROCESS RUNOUT.
IF THE NPRO VALUE IS SET TO 0, THE OPERATOR WILL HAVE TO
PERFORM A MANUAL NPRO TO MOVE THE LAST PAGE OF THE LAST
      DATASET TO THE STACKER.

C - *** SEE JES APAR OY15494 FOR NEW FUNCTION FOR SITUATION
          DESCRIBED BELOW *** LOOKAHEAD JIB
OTHER PRINTERS ARE IDLE WHILE THE PAGEMODE PRINTER IS
PRINTING ONE JOB WITH ANOTHER SCHEDULED TO FOLLOW.
YOU MAY SEE A SITUATION WHERE YOU HAVE A LARGE JOB PRINTING
ON A PAGEMODE PRINTER AND ANOTHER SMALL JOB QUEUED UP
BEHIND IT. NO OPERATOR COMMANDS ALLOW YOU TO MOVE THAT
SMALLER JOB TO ANOTHER PRINTER WHICH MAY BE IDLE.
THIS IS NOT A PSF CAUSED SITUATION. IT IS CREATED BY A
JES LOOK-AHEAD JIB. JES IS THE COMPONENT THAT SCHEDULES
WORK TO PSF, PSF ONLY WAITS FOR WORK. THE LOOK-AHEAD JIB
WAS DESIGNED TO ALWAYS KEEP THE PAGEMODE PRINTER ACTIVE.
IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS REGARDING THIS
FUNCTION, CONTACT THE JES SUPPORT GROUP.

  D - COPYMARKS / OFFSET STACKING
PSF CAUSES OFFSET STACKING TO OCCUR BETWEEN COPYGROUPS.
THIS PARAMETER IS SPECIFIED IN THE FORMDEF. JES CAUSED

COPYMARKS OR OFFSET STACKING TO OCCUR BETWEEN DATASETS
WITHIN A JOB AND BETWEEN JOBS. REFER TO JES2 APAR
OY14271 FOR INFORMATION REGARDING OPERATOR CONTROL OF
THIS FUNCTION. COPYMARKS ARE PRINTED ON CONTINUOUS FORMS
AND OFFSET STACKING IS FOR CUT-SHEET PRINTERS.
PSF LOOKS AT THE GDSCMC AND GDSCMCPY BITS IN THE GDSFLGR1
BYTE PASSED TO IT FROM JES.
      BIT SETTINGS
      CMC CMCPY RESULTING ACTION
      -------------------------------------------------------
0 0 COPY MARKING / OFFSETTING NEVER OCCURS
1 0 MARKING AT BEGINNING OF EACH DATASET
0 1 MARKING AT BEGINNING OF EACH COPY
1 1 MARKING AT BEGINNING OF EACH DATASET AND
AT THE BEGINNING OF EACH COPY
WHEN YOU TURN OFF JOGGING USING THE $T OR *R JES COMMANDS
THIS CAUSES THE PRINTER TO CONTINUE PRINTING IN ALIGNMENT
WITH THE PREVIOUS JOB. IF YOU WANT THE PRINTER TO PRINT AT
THE HOMESTATE POSITION, REGARDLESS OF WHERE THE PREVIOUS
JOB ENDED, YOU WILL NEED TO DO THE FOLLOWING.
      1) DRAIN THE PRINTER ($P)
      2) CHANGE THE COPYMARK PARAMETER TO 'CONSTANT' ($T)
      3) AT PRINTER CONSOLE -
         - STOP THE PRINTER
         - POWER THE PRINTER ON AND OFF WHICH INSURES THE BIN IS
IN THE 'HOME' POSITION AND REENABLE THE CHANNEL
      4) RESTART THE PRINTER ($S)
  TO RESUME JOGGING -
   1) DRAIN THE PRINTER ($P)
   2) CHANGE COPYMARK = (JOB OR DATASET) ($T)
   3) START THE PRINTER ($S)

E - STEPLIBBING IN JES INIT STATEMENT- SEE II02890
MANY TIMES CUSTOMERS INSTALL A NEW RELEASE OF JES
OR APPLY MAINTENANCE TO A TEST SYSTEM AND USE STEPLIB
STATEMENTS IN THEIR JES INISH DECK TO ENABLE THEIR USE OF
BOTH SYSTEMS. THERE ARE SEVERAL HARD TO DIAGNOSIS ERROR
CONDITIONS THAT CAN OCCUR WHEN JES AND PSF ARE NOT
POINTING TO THE SAME LEVEL OF HASPFSSM. PLEASE ENSURE
THAT BOTH JES AND PSF ARE USING THE SAME RELEASE AND
      MAINTENANCE LEVEL OF HASPFSSM.

F - CANCELLING THE FSA AND THE FSS
IF WORKING IN A MULTIPLE FSA ENVIRONMENT, EACH PRINTER
WILL HAVE TO BE DRAINED BEFORE IT IS POSSIBLE TO CANCEL
THE PSF ADDRESS SPACE. WE RECOMMEND USING THE MVS CANCEL
COMMAND TO CANCEL THE FSS OVER THE USE OF THE $T MODE=JES
      COMMAND.

  H - PAPER JAM RECOVERY PROCEDURE ( PAPERJAM )
1 - JAM OCCURS ON PRINTER
      2 - MSGIOS003A - INTERVENTION REQUIRED
3 - OPERATOR OBSERVES PRINTER STATUS CODE
4 - STATUS CODE INDICATES PAPERJAM
5 - OPERATOR FOLLOWS SPECIFIC PRINTER'S JAM RECOVERY

          PROCEDURES (SEE PRINTER'S OPERATOR MANUAL)
6 - OPERATOR MAKES PRINTER 'READY'
7 - IOS SEES READY (DEVICE END) AND CLEARS WTO MSG
8 - CONTROL IS RETURNED TO PSF
9 - PSF REPOSITIONS AND PRINTS JAM MESSAGE PAGE (APS711I)
10 - PSF RESUMES PRINTING BASED UPON WHICH PAGE HAD BEEN
LOCATED AT THE JAM POINT IN THE PRINTER.
11 - AFTER PRINTER STARTS PRINTING, THE OPERATOR OBSERVES
OUTPUT AND DETERMINES IF MANUAL REPOSITIONING IS
          REQUIRED.
12 - OPERATOR 'MAY' NEED TO STOP THE PRINTER AGAIN, AND
          THEN ISSUE A BACKSPACE COMMAND.
  **** PLEASE NOTE !!!!!!!
PSF MUST BE ALLOWED TO USE IT'S INTERNAL PAPERJAM RECOVERY
BEFORE ANY JES BACKSPACE COMMANDS ARE ISSUED. UNPREDICTABLE
RESULTS MAY OCCUR IF STEPS 1-12 ARE NOT FOLLOWED.
IF A BACKSPACE COMMAND IS ENTERED PRIOR TO PSF COMPLETING
NORMAL REPOSITIONING, THE BACKSPACE COMMAND MAY BE "LOST"
  DURING THE NORMAL REPOSITIONING PROCESS.
