This README file is intended to provide assistance with installing the PSF/AIX 2.1 ptfs that are located in this directory. Each ptf is a complete image that contains all cummulative maintenance for the particular service stream that it addresses. Only the latest PSF for AIX ptfs should appear in this directory. The ptf should be received to the target system in binary and stored in /usr/sys/inst.images. Other directories may be used if /usr/sys/inst.images isn't available. Invoke smit and reject the existing ptf for the service stream that is being updated. In other words, if ptf ABC is currently installed on ACIF and ptf DEF is a newer ACIF ptf that just became available, you would reject ptf ABC from ACIF and install ptf DEF on ACIF in the APPLIED state. PSF for AIX recommends that ptfs be APPLIED not COMMITTED. After the ptf has been successfully applied, the ptf image can be removed from /usr/sys/inst.images directory. Please refer to the PSF for AIX Print Administration manual in the section titled " Installing Corrective Service Updates to PSF for AIX." for more information.
