It contains information concerning the material and procedures associated with the installation of NetSpool. You should read all of this program directory before installing the program and then keep it for future reference. The program directory contains the following sections: 2.0, "Program Materials" on page 2 identifies the basic and optional program materials and documentation for NetSpool. 3.0, "Program Support" on page 4 describes the IBM support available for NetSpool. 4.0, "Program and Service Level Information" on page 5 lists the APARs (program level) and PTFs (service level) incorporated into NetSpool. 5.0, "Installation Requirements and Considerations" on page 7 identifies the resources and considerations for installing and using NetSpool. 6.0, "Installation Instructions" on page 13 provides detailed installation instructions for NetSpool. It also describes the procedures for activating the functions of NetSpool, or refers to appropriate publications. Appendix A, "NetSpool Install Logic" on page 18 provides the install logic for NetSpool. Appendix B, "PTF Cover Letter Data for Service Level SMC9929" on page 19 lists the incorporated PTFs' cover letters. Before installing NetSpool, read 3.2, "Preventive Service Planning" on page 4. This section tells you how to find any updates to the information and procedures in this program directory. If you are installing NetSpool using the MVS Custom-Built Product Delivery Offering (CBPDO) (5751-CS3), use the softcopy program directory provided on the CBPDO tape. Your CBPDO contains a softcopy preventive service planning (PSP) upgrade for this product. All service and HOLDDATA for NetSpool are included on the CBPDO tape. 1.1 NETSPOOL DESCRIPTION NetSpool converts data received from VTAM applications, such as CICS and IMS, to S/390 line data and places the data on the JES2 or JES3 spool. You can then use JES, PSF, or IP PrintWay to print or distribute this output. NetSpool enables VTAM applications to take advantage of AFP solutions without program changes. NetSpool allows multiple VTAM applications to share a single multi-function printer, and also allows a single VTAM application to broadcast output with the same or different output formats to multiple distributed printers. 1.2 NETSPOOL FMIDS NetSpool consists of the following FMID: HPRF226 (C) Copyright IBM Corp. 1995, 1998 1 2.0 PROGRAM MATERIALS An IBM program is identified by a program number and a feature number. The program number for NetSpool when ordered as a feature of PSF Version 3 for OS/390 is 5655-B17. If you received this product as part of a CBPDO or a ProductPac, PTFs not incorporated into this release are provided on the tape, and a separate cumulative service tape will not be provided. Program and Service Level Information 6 5.0 INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS AND CONSIDERATIONS The following sections identify the system requirements for installing and activating NetSpool. The following terminology is used: Driving system: the system used to install the program. Target system: the system on which the program is installed. In many cases, the same system can be used as both a driving system and a target system. However, you may want to set up a clone of your system to use as a target system by making a separate IPL-able copy of the running system. The clone should include copies of all system libraries that SMP/E updates, copies of the SMP/E CSI data sets that describe the system libraries, and your PARMLIB and PROCLIB. Some cases where two systems should be used include the following: When installing a new level of a product that is already installed, the new product will delete the old one. By installing onto a separate target system, you can test the new product while still keeping the old one in production. When installing a product that shares libraries or load modules with other products, the installation can disrupt the other products. Installing onto a test system or clone will allow you to assess these impacts without disrupting your production system. 5.1 DRIVING SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS This section describes the environment of the driving system required to install NetSpool. 5.1.1 MACHINE REQUIREMENTS The driving system can run in any hardware environment that supports the required software. 5.1.2 PROGRAMMING REQUIREMENTS ׯ | Figure 7. These systems can be other systems in a multisystem environment (not necessarily sysplex), a shared DASD environment (such as test and production), or systems that reuse the same DASD at different time intervals. NetSpool has no toleration/coexistence requisites. Installation Requirements and Considerations 8 5.2.2.4 INCOMPATIBILITY (NEGATIVE) REQUISITES A negative requisite identifies products which must not be installed on the same system as this product. NetSpool has no negative requisites. However, NetSpool cannot be installed in the same SMP/E zones as OS/390 Release 8 or higher. See 5.4.2, "Installing NetSpool on OS/390 Release 8 or Higher" on page 12 for further information. 5.2.3 DASD STORAGE REQUIREMENTS NetSpool libraries can reside on any DASD supported by the operating system. Figure 10 lists the total space required for each type of library. ׯ | Figure 10. Total DASD Space Required by NetSpool | ׯ | | | LIBRARY TYPE | TOTAL SPACE REQUIRED | ׯ | | | | Target | 26 tracks on 3390 DASD | ׯ | | | | Distribution | 32 tracks on 3390 DASD | ר NOTES: 1. The data set sizes specified contain 15% extra space. You may wish to revise these numbers based on your plans for adding additional function or service. 2. IBM recommends use of system determined blocksizes for efficient DASD utilization for all non-RECFM U data sets. For RECFM U data sets, IBM recommends a blocksize of 32760, which is the most efficient from a performance and DASD utilization perspective. If you choose not to use system determined blocksizes, use the blocksizes and numbers of blocks specified to allocate the data sets. Data sets can be reblocked to a larger size. Please note that the maximum allowable blocksize will depend on the type of DASD on which the dataset will reside; for example, the blocksize of datasets on a 3350 DASD cannot exceed 19,069. 3. Abbreviations used for the data set type are: U Unique data set used by only the FMIDs listed. In order to determine the correct storage needed for this data set, this table provides all required information; no other tables (or program directories) need to be referenced for the data set size. S Shared data set used by more than the FMIDs listed. In order to determine the correct storage needed for this data set, the storage size given in this table needs to be added to other tables (perhaps in other program directories). If the data set already exists, it must have enough free space to accommodate the storage size given in this table. If you currently have this product installed in these libraries, the installation of this service update will delete the old release and reclaim the space used by the old release and any service that had been installed. You can determine whether or not these libraries have enough space by deleting the old release with a dummy function, compressing the libraries, and comparing the space requirements with the free space in the libraries. For more information on the names and sizes of the required data sets, please refer to 6.1.8, "Allocate SMP/E Target and Distribution Libraries" on page 15. If your maintenance level is not already at Service Level SMC9929 or higher, you should install this service updated level of HPRF226, and any cumulative service tape provided, to bring NetSpool up to the current level. If your maintenance level is already at Service Level SMC9929 or higher, skip to 6.1.12.1, "Enable NetSpool for OS/390 Systems" on page 16 for instructions on how to dynamically enable NetSpool. Installation Requirements and Considerations 11 5.4.2 INSTALLING NETSPOOL ON OS/390 RELEASE 8 OR HIGHER To allow NetSpool to coexist with the Infoprint Server feature of OS/390 Release 8 and higher, you must install FMID HPRF226 into separate zones from those used for OS/390 Release 8 or higher. The install logic for Infoprint Server will delete and supercede FMID HPRF226. The following considerations apply for using the PSF V3 NetSpool feature on OS/390 R8: You cannot install PSF V3 NetSpool in the same SMP/E target and distribution zone as OS/390. You must install NetSpool into a separate zone. The PSF V3 IP PrintWay and NetSpool features can coexist with each other in the same zone, but it must be a different zone than the one you used to install OS/390. The executable code for the PSF V3 NetSpool feature and OS/390 Infoprint Server can coexist on the system. PSF V3 NetSpool modules will be installed into API.SAPIMOD1. Infoprint Server modules will be installed into SYS1.LINKLIB. If you want to run PSF V3 NetSpool on OS/390 R8 or higher, you must use a STEPLIB statement in the start-up procedure for PSF V3 NetSpool. You should not put API.SAPIMOD1 in the linklist because modules with the same names reside in SYS1.LINKLIB. The startup procedure for NetSpool, APIJPJCL, will be installed in API.SAPISAMP when HPRF226 is installed. SYS1.PROCLIB will contain a startup procedure of the same name for Infoprint Server after the installation of OS/390 R8. You should copy APIJPJCL into an active procedure library using a different name, rather than the default procedure name APIJPJCL. You must use separate operational data sets for NetSpool if you want to run it in parallel with Infoprint Server. Separate data sets are required for the PSF V3 NetSpool message log data set. You must use different LU names for PSF V3 NetSpool if you want to run it in parallel with Infoprint Server. The LU names defined to VTAM for each instance of NetSpool must be unique. Installation Requirements and Considerations 12 6.0 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS This chapter describes the installation method and the step-by-step procedures to install and to activate the functions of NetSpool. Please note the following: If you want to install NetSpool into its own SMP/E environment, consult the SMP/E manuals for instructions on creating and initializing the SMPCSI and the SMP/E control data sets. Sample jobs have been provided to help perform some or all of the installation tasks. The SMP/E jobs assume that all DDDEF entries required for SMP/E execution have been defined in the appropriate zones. The SMP/E dialogs may be used instead of the sample jobs to accomplish the SMP/E installation steps. 6.1 INSTALLING NETSPOOL 6.1.1 SMP/E CONSIDERATIONS FOR INSTALLING NETSPOOL This release of NetSpool is installed using the SMP/E RECEIVE, APPLY, and ACCEPT commands. The SMP/E dialogs may be used to accomplish the SMP/E installation steps. 6.1.2 SMP/E ENVIRONMENT All SMP/E installation jobs provided assume that all necessary DD statements for the execution of SMP/E are defined using DDDEFs. Sample jobs are provided to assist you in installing NetSpool. After the RECEIVE step has been completed, the sample jobs can be found in SMPTLIB: IBM.HPRF226.F5. Make a copy of these jobs in your own library and modify them to use during the installation of NetSpool. The sample jobs are: APIJRCV Sample RECEIVE job APIJALOC Sample job to allocate target and distribution libraries APIJDDEF Sample job to define SMP/E DDDEFs APIJAPCK Sample APPLY CHECK job APIJAP Sample APPLY job APIJACCK Sample ACCEPT CHECK job APIJAC Sample ACCEPT job In the sample SMP/E jobs provided, the name of the SMP/E CSI is "#GLOBALCSI". The global zone name in the SMP/E CSI is "GLOBAL". The distribution zone name is "#DZONE". The target zone name is "#TZONE". The sample jobs should be updated to reflect the CSI and zone names used at your installation. 6.1.3 SMP/E OPTIONS SUBENTRY VALUES The recommended values for some SMP/E CSI subentries are shown in Figure 16. Use of values lower than these may result in failures in the installation process. DSSPACE is a subentry in the GLOBAL options entry. PEMAX is a subentry of the GENERAL entry in the GLOBAL options entry. Refer to the SMP/E manuals for instructions on updating the global zone. (C) Copyright IBM Corp. 1995, 1998 13 ׯ | Figure 16. SMP/E Options Subentry Values | ׯ | | | SUB-ENTRY | VALUE | COMMENT | ׯ | | | | | DSSPACE | (50,10,50) | | ׯ | | | | | PEMAX | 9999 | The SMP/E default is larger than | | | | what can be specified here | ר 6.1.4 SMP/E CALLLIBS PROCESSING NetSpool uses the CALLLIBS function provided in SMP/E Release 8 to resolve external references during installation. When NetSpool is installed, ensure the following: Verify that the SMP/E SMPLTS data set has been allocated. Refer to SMP/E Reference for information on allocating the SMPLTS data set. NOTE: For NetSpool, five tracks of 3380/3390 DASD space is adequate for the SMPLTS. Provide DDDEFs for the following library: CSSLIB See 6.1.9, "Create DDDEF Entries" on page 15 for a sample job to define these DDDEFs. NOTE: The DDDEF above is used only to resolve the link-edit for NetSpool using CALLLIBS. This data set is not updated during the installation of NetSpool. 6.1.5 UNLOAD THE SAMPLE JCL FROM THE PRODUCT TAPE Sample installation jobs are provided on the distribution tape to help you install NetSpool. The following sample JCL will copy the NetSpool jobs from the tape. Add a job card and modify the parameters in boldface to uppercase values to meet your site's requirements before submitting. //STEP1 EXEC PGM=IEBCOPY //SYSPRINT DD SYSOUT=A //IN DD DSN=IBM.HPRF226.F5,UNIT=TUNIT,VOL=SER=PRF226, // LABEL=(6,SL),DISP=(OLD,KEEP) //OUT DD DSNAME=API.JCLLIB, // DISP=(NEW,CATLG,DELETE), // VOL=SER=DASDVOL,UNIT=SYSALLDA, // DCB=*.STEP1.IN,SPACE=(8800,(8,1,2)) //SYSUT3 DD UNIT=SYSDA,SPACE=(CYL,(1,1)) //SYSIN DD * COPY INDD=IN,OUTDD=OUT /* where TUNIT is the unit value matching the product tape or cartridge, API.JCLLIB is the name of the data set where the sample jobs will reside, and DASDVOL is the volume serial of the DASD device where the data set will reside. You can also access the sample installation jobs by performing an SMP/E RECEIVE for FMID HPRF226, and then copying the jobs from dataset HLQ.IBM.HPRF226.F5 to a work dataset for editing and submission. Installation Instructions 14 6.1.6 PERFORM SMP/E RECEIVE Edit and submit sample job APIJRCV to perform the SMP/E RECEIVE for NetSpool. Consult the instructions in the sample job for more information. NOTE: if you obtained NetSpool as part of a CBPDO, you can use the RCVPDO job found in the CBPDO RIMLIB data set to RECEIVE the NetSpool FMIDs as well as any service, HOLDDATA, or preventive service planning (PSP) information included on the CBPDO tape. For more information, refer to the documentation included with the CBPDO. EXPECTED RETURN CODES AND MESSAGES: A return code of "0" should be received from this job. 6.1.7 RECEIVE THE CUMULATIVE SERVICE TAPE A cumulative service tape may be shipped with the product package. If no cumulative service tape is shipped or if the product is received by CBPDO, skip this section. A sample job to RECEIVE the PTFs and HOLDDATA from the cumulative service tape can be found in api.jcllib(APIJRCVC). If any of the PTFs on the tape have a system hold by the ++HOLD SYSTEM modification control statement with a reason ID equal to UCLIN, file 6 of the cumulative service tape will contain the UCLIN for that PTF. The instructions for the UCLIN are contained in the cover letter of the PTF. EXPECTED RETURN CODES AND MESSAGES: A return code of "0" should be received from this job. 6.1.8 ALLOCATE SMP/E TARGET AND DISTRIBUTION LIBRARIES Edit and submit sample job APIJALOC to allocate the SMP/E target and distribution libraries for NetSpool. Consult the instructions in the sample job for more information. The APIJALOC sample job specifies the storage requirements using average block lengths. BLKSIZE=0 indicates that system-determined block sizes are being used. For example, the sizes might look like this: SPACE=(8800,(135,27,6)), DCB=(RECFM=FB,LRECL=80,BLKSIZE=0) Do not confuse the SPACE=8800 (average block length) parameter with the BLKSIZE=0 (block size) parameter. If you would like to change the block size to something other than the system-determined block size, you can change the BLKSIZE parameter. Do not change the SPACE parameter. You can use the storage allocations as they are, or convert them to cylinder or track allocations. EXPECTED RETURN CODES AND MESSAGES: A return code of "0" should be received from this job. 6.1.9 CREATE DDDEF ENTRIES Edit and submit sample job APIJDDEF to create DDDEF entries for the SMP/E target and distribution libraries for NetSpool. Consult the instructions in the sample job for more information. If the target and distribution data sets that correspond to the DDDEFS will be cataloged, the UNIT and VOLUME parameters should be deleted before the job is run. If this job is re-run, change the "ADD" command to "REP" to replace the existing entries. EXPECTED RETURN CODES AND MESSAGES: A return code of "0" should be received from this job. Installation Instructions 15 6.1.10 PERFORM SMP/E APPLY CHECK Edit and submit sample job APIJAPCK to perform an SMP/E APPLY CHECK for NetSpool. Consult the instructions in the sample job for more information. To receive the full benefit of the SMP/E Causer SYSMOD Summary Report, do not bypass the following on the APPLY CHECK: PRE, ID, REQ, and IFREQ. This is because the SMP/E root cause analysis identifies the cause only of ERRORS and not of WARNINGS (SYSMODs that are bypassed are treated as warnings, not errors, by SMP/E). The GROUPEXTEND operand indicates that SMP/E apply all requisite SYSMODs. The requisite SYSMODS might be applicable to other functions. EXPECTED RETURN CODES AND MESSAGES: A return code of "0" should be received from this job. 6.1.11 PERFORM SMP/E APPLY Edit and submit sample job APIJAP to perform an SMP/E APPLY for NetSpool. Consult the instructions in the sample job for more information. When using SMP/E CALLLIBS, you may receive warning messages when the load modules are link edited into the SMPLTS data set. For example: IEW2454W SYMBOL xxxxxxxx UNRESOLVED. NO AUTOCALL(NCAL) SPECIFIED IEW2480W EXTERNAL SYMBOL xxxxxxxx OF TYPE LD WAS ALREADY DEFINED AS A SYMBOL OF TYPE LD IN SECTION csectname These warning messages are acceptable. EXPECTED RETURN CODES AND MESSAGES: A return code of "0" should be received from this job. 6.1.12 UPDATE MVS SYSTEM ENVIRONMENT 6.1.12.1 ENABLE NETSPOOL FOR OS/390 SYSTEMS If you are installing NetSpool on MVS/ESA V5, you may skip this step and continue with 6.1.12.2, "Customize NetSpool." If you are installing NetSpool on an OS/390 system, you must complete this step to enable NetSpool. For information on OS/390 dynamic enablement, refer to OS/390 MVS Product Management, GC28-1730. A sample IFAPRDxx entry is provided in member APIPRDXX of API.SAPISAMP. Copy APIPRDXX into your active IFAPRDxx member of SYS1.PARMLIB to enable NetSpool, following the instructions in APIPRDXX. Your IFAPRDxx entry should look like this: PRODUCT OWNER('IBM CORP') NAME('PSF FOR OS/390') ID(5655-B17) VERSION(*) RELEASE(*) MOD(*) FEATURENAME('NETSPOOL') STATE(ENABLED) 6.1.12.2 CUSTOMIZE NETSPOOL After completing the above steps, you may activate NetSpool as described in 6.2, "Activating NetSpool" on page 17 at any time. Installation Instructions 16 6.1.13 PERFORM SMP/E ACCEPT CHECK Edit and submit sample job APIJACCK to perform an SMP/E ACCEPT CHECK for NetSpool. Consult the instructions in the sample job for more information. To receive the full benefit of the SMP/E Causer SYSMOD Summary Report, do not bypass the following on the ACCEPT CHECK: PRE, ID, REQ, and IFREQ. This is because the SMP/E root cause analysis identifies the cause only of ERRORS and not of WARNINGS (SYSMODs that are bypassed are treated as warnings, not errors, by SMP/E). The GROUPEXTEND operand indicates that SMP/E accept all requisite SYSMODs. The requisite SYSMODS might be applicable to other functions. EXPECTED RETURN CODES AND MESSAGES: A return code of "0" should be received from this job. 6.1.14 PERFORM SMP/E ACCEPT Edit and submit sample job APIJAC to perform an SMP/E ACCEPT for NetSpool. Consult the instructions in the sample job for more information. Before using SMP/E to load new distribution libraries, it is recommended that you set the ACCJCLIN indicator in the distribution zone. This will cause entries produced from JCLIN to be saved in the distribution zone whenever a SYSMOD containing inline JCLIN is ACCEPTed. For more information on the ACCJCLIN indicator, see the description of inline JCLIN in the SMP/E manuals. EXPECTED RETURN CODES AND MESSAGES: A return code of "0" should be received from this job. If PTFs containing replacement modules are being ACCEPTed, SMP/E ACCEPT processing will linkedit/bind the modules into the distribution libraries. During this processing, the Linkage Editor or Binder may issue IEW0461 or IEW2454W messages documenting unresolved external references, resulting in a return code of 4 from the ACCEPT step. These messages can be ignored, because the distribution libraries are not executable and the unresolved external references will not affect the executable system libraries. 6.2 ACTIVATING NETSPOOL The publication IBM NetSpool Guide, G544-5301, contains the step-by-step procedures to activate the functions of NetSpool. A checklist of NetSpool configuration tasks is contained in Appendix A of the IBM NetSpool Guide. A summary of the steps to get NetSpool into operational status follows: 1. Define logical printers to VTAM with APPL definition statements 2. Modify VTAM resource definitions for VTAM applications using NetSpool 3. Create a new end-of-file rules table, if necessary 4. Create a new page format table, if necessary 5. Define logical printer characteristics using the APIPRTCH or IP PrintWay routing and options data sets 6. Create a startup procedure for NetSpool. A sample procedure is provided in member APIJPJCL of target library API.SAPISAMP. 7. Create a message log data set if desired Installation Instructions 17 APPENDIX A. NETSPOOL INSTALL LOGIC A.1 SMP/E MODIFICATION CONTROL STATEMENTS The SMP/E Modification Control Statements (SMPMCS) for NetSpool are contained in the SMPMCS file on the installation tape.
