How can I tell how many pages in a LIST3820

Question

When someone sends me a LIST3820 file produced by SCRIPT, how can I figure out how many pages are in that document? At our shop, we are supposed to send short print jobs to 1 printer, medium-sized jobs to another, etc.

Answer

  Browse the LIST3820 file. The second to the last record is your last EPG
  (End Page) structured field. There is a page number token at byte 10.  If
  you have preface pages (in roman numerals) you should add the number of
  roman numeral pages to the token on the last EPG.
