Language Reference (SH35007006) will be changed. See Apar PN14232 (attached). 5. 92/03/17 Documentation in the DCF GML Starter Set Implementation Guide SH35-0050- concerning monospaced fonts needs clarification. See DOC apar PN15501 (attached). 4. 92/03/17 The SCRIPT Language Reference Manual indicates the addenda dictionary can contain 1600 words - this is incorrect. See DOC apar PN12237 (attache). 3. 92/03/17 FSS parameter is in the wrong macro in the SCRIPT Text Programmers Guide SH35-0069-06. See apar PN12101 (attached). 2. 92/03/17 When trying to change the default language hyphenation support to Danish hyphenation support, the DSMACTT macro in the DSMTRNLT module has to be modified. See DOC apar PN03468 attached. 1. 91/05/02 THE PROGRAM DIRECTORY, UNDER THE PROGRAM PUBLICATION, MAY LIST THE WRONG ORDER NUMBER FOR THE CR/ROM. IT SHOULD BE SK25-1980. ************************************************************************ * SECTION 3. G E N E R A L I N F O R M A T I O N * ************************************************************************ THIS SECTION CONTAINS GENERAL INFORMATION, I.E. SYSGEN HINTS/TIPS. 19. 95/12/05 Included Objects are supported by AFP Workbench Viewer Version 2, CSD level 2.15. Included objects are not supported by Print Services Facility. Print Services Facility will ignore the Included Objects with a message. 18. 95/05/15 Support for intradocument, interdocument and object navigational links in DCF Viewer Feature is available 7/95, and in AFP Workbench CSD 220 7/95. 17. 95/03/27 Apar PN68001 fails to clarify how the user should specify the external object name on the .DO control word. The following words should be added to the OBNAME description: To ensure portability across all AFP platforms, object names must be composed according to the following conventions: The external name should be encoded using EBCDIC code page 500 to represent the characters in the name. External object names should consist only of the characters A-Z, 0-9 and $, # and @. For example, to reference an object with the name 'BOB', the external name should be encoded as 'X'C2D6C2'. SCRIPT/VS folds lowercase alphabetic characters to uppercase. 16. 94/06/02 Apar PN55930 changes how the AFPDS is produced when formatting for any of the following families of logical devices: AFP, 3820, PG1, PG2, PG3, PG4, and 38PP. Prior to this apar each different section of the page was placed in a separate CTX/PTX structured field. This sections include, but are not limited to: columns, floats, cells in tables, areas, footnotes, running headings, and running footings. PN55930 changes processing to put as much data into a CTX/PTX structured field as possible. This means that fewer CTX/PTX structured fields will be produced, the output files produced by SCRIPT/VS will be smaller, and printer performance should be improved. 15. 92/05/20 If you install DCF 1.4 at the 9202 put level, you must install apar PN15618 with ptf UN16511. This fixes PE apar PN13644. Failure to install this apar may result in a variety of problems including operation exceptions or program exceptions with message msdmsitp141t. 14. 92/04/22 The program directory for DCF shows a saved segment size of x'BF' which is large enough for base DCF, maintenance and one language. If you include features such as SMFF and more than one language, you will need to increase the size of your segment accordingly. Failure to do so may result in message msdmsitp141t indicating an operation exception has occurred. 13. 92/04/13 VM/DCF MAINTENANCE: Please verify that either the REFRESH tape or PUT9201 maintenance is installed before installing service off of the 9202 put tape. 12. 92/04/01 When installing the Double Byte featuer, the user MUST have apar PN18084 installed. 11. 92/03/30 When installing the double byte feature and creating a load module for VM with either DSMGND40 or DSMGNS40, the double byte feature is not installed correctly. Also, after after installing apar PN11639, the user cannot change the name of the shared segments or module when creating them with DSMGND40 or DSMGNS40. See apar PN18084 (attached) for details. 10. 92/02/25 WHEN GENERATING A SHARED SEGMENT WITH THE I5748XX9 INSTALL EXEC, A RETURN CODE OF 888 IS A NORMAL RETURN CODE. THIS INDICATES THE SHARED SEGMENT WAS BUILT BUT VERIFICATION HAS NOT BEEN DONE. MANUAL VERIFICATION MUST BE PERFORMED BY FORMATTING THE IVP. 9. 92/02/24 AFTER INSTALLING A CORRECTIVE SERVICE TAPE, RUNNING DSMHYLIB MAY TAKE LONGER THAN NORMAL TO RE-LOAD LIBRARIES, DEPENDING UPON THE SYSTEM. 8. 92/02/04 IF INSTALLING THE SHARED SEGMENT VERSION OF DCF 1.4.0 AND USING SEGMENT PACKING, MESSAGE DSMITP141T "OPERATION EXCEPTION AT X'950002' IN DSMAAAAA" CAN BE ISSUED. THIS HAPPENS WHEN USING THE DSMGNS40 EXEC TO BUILD THE SHARED SEGMENT VERSION. SEE ATTACHED APAR PN05162. 7. 92/01/27 IF YOU ARE INSTALLING A SHARED SEGMENT VERSION OF DCF 1.4 ON A VM/SP, VM/XA OR VM/ESA SYSTEM, CHECK TO SEE WHAT SAVED SEGMENTS CURRENTLY EXIST. POSITION OF SAVED SEGMENTS CAN VARY FROM INSTALLATION TO INSTALLATION. FOR INFORMATION CONCERNING SAVED SEGMENTS, REFER TO THE GUIDE TO SAVED SEGMENTS MANUAL (SC23-0457-0). OVERLAYING SEGMENTS MAY RESULT IN MSDMSITP141T AND/OR MSDMSITP142T. 6. 91/11/14 WHEN USING A NON-AMERICAN ENGLISH LANGUAGE KEYBOARD, ERRORS SUCH AS INCORRECT PRINTING OF ACCENTED CHARACTERS AND INCORRECT SPELL CHECKING A HYPHENATION MAY OCCUR IF THE FOLLOWING MODIFICATIONS ARE NOT MADE: 1. CHANGE THE DEFAULT LANGUAGE SPECIFIED IN THE DSMDEF MACRO. 2. FOR ALL PAGE MODE DEVICES, THE DEFAULT FONT SPECIFIED IN THE CALLS TO DSMLDT MUST BE CHANGED TO SPECIFY THE CODED FONT THAT IS APPROPRIATE FOR THE PARTICULAR COUNTRY. 3. CODE THE DSMACTT MACRO TO PROVIDE TRANSLATIONS FROM THE INSTALLATION' INPUT CODEPOINTS TO INTERNATIONAL CODEPAGE 500 FOR SPELL CHECKING AND HYPHENATION OF ACCENTED CHARACTERS TO OCCUR CORRECTLY. SEE THE DCF SCRIPT/VS TEXT PROGRAMMER'S GUIDE FOR MORE INFORMATION ON TH USE OF THE DSMACTT, DSMDEF, AND DSMLDT MACROS. 5. 91/08/01 IF A CUSTOMER INTENDS TO INSTALL THE DISK RESIDENT MODULE OF DCF 1.4.0 (DSM4) ON DASD WHICH IS SHARED BETWEEN VM/370 SYSTEMS AND VM/XA OR VM/ESA SYSTEMS, THEY SHOULD CREATE THE DISK RESIDENT MODULE ON THE VM/XA OR VM/ESA SYSTEM. IF THE MODULE IS CREATED ON THE HIGHER LEVEL SYSTEM, IT SHOULD RUN IN BOTH SYSTEMS. IF THE MODULE WAS CREATED ON THE VM/370 SYSTEM, IT CAN BE RUN BY VM/XA OR VM/ESA USERS ONLY IF THEY ARE RUNNING IN 370 MACHINE MODE (SET MACHINE 370). 4. 91/07/29 THE NEW .OI (OVERLAY INCLUDE) CONTROL WORD PROVIDED WITH DCF 4.0 REQUIRES VERSION 2 OF PSF. DCF PRODUCES IPO (D3AFD8) AND MPO (D3ABD8) STRUCTURED FIELDS FOR THE .OI CONTROL WORD. THESE NEW STRUCTURED FIELDS ARE NOT SUPPORTED IN PSF V1. ATTEMPTING TO USE THE .OI CONTROL WORD WHILE RUNNING PSF V1 WILL PRODUCE ERRORS SUCH AS 'THE PROGRAM THAT CREATED THE PRINT FILE OR A PRINT RESOURCE GENERATED INVALID DATA - SFI BYTES 2-4 ARE INVALID'. THE INVALID SFI'S ARE X'D3ABD8' AND X'D3AFD8'. 3. 91/05/02 USING THE "TYPE" PARAMETER ON THE DCF .DF CONTROL WORD: WHEN THIS PARAMETER IS USED, DCF EXAMINES THE DCFINDEX MEMBER IN THE FONT LIBRARY TO FIND A FONT THAT MATCHES THE DESIRED DESCRIPTION. THE DCFINDEX IS BUILT WITH DCF'S FONT LIBRARY INDEX PROGRAM (FLIP). SOME OF THE D/T4028 RESIDENT FONTS AND FONT CARDS HAVE THE SAME FONT DESCRIPTION AS 240-DPI HOST FONTS. ONE EXAMPLE IS CENTURY SCHOOLBOOK. MANY CUSTOMERS WOULD PROBABLY USE FLIP TO BUILD A DCFINDEX MEMBER THAT INCLUDED INFORMATION FOR THE 4028 FONT METRICS IN ADDITION TO THE NORMAL, HOST FONTS. SINCE CENTURY SCHOOLBOOK APPEARS IN BOTH THE HOST FONT PROGRAM PRODUCT AND IN THE 4028 FONT METRICS, IT WOULD APPEAR TWICE IN DCFINDEX. THEREFORE, IF YOU SPECIFIED: .DF FONT1 TYPE('CENTURY SCHOOLBOOK') YOU WOULD NOT KNOW WHICH FONT DCF USED, THE HOST FONT OR THE FONT CARD? EVEN THOUGH THE DESCRIPTIVE NAME IS THE SAME, THE CHARACTER SET NAMES ARE DIFFERENT BETWEEN THE HOST PROGRAM PRODUCT AND THE 4028 FONT METRIC. ALSO, THE FONT'S APPEARANCE IS DIFFERENT. IF THE .DF FONT PARAMETER IS USED INSTEAD OF TYPE, THEN YOU WILL NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS. UNFORTUNATELY, MOST CUSTOMERS PROBABLY USE THE TYPE PARAMETER. THERE IS A PARTIAL CIRCUMVENTION. KEEP THE 4028 FONT METRICS IN A SEPARATE LIBRARY FROM THE REST OF THE FONTS. RUN FLIP AGAINST THE 4028 METRIC ONLY FONTS (PRINTER RESIDENT FONTS) WITH THE REST OF THE FONTS CONCATENATED BEHIND THEM AND PLACE THAT DCFINDEX IN THE 4028 RESIDENT FONT LIBRARY. THEN RUN FLIP AGAINST THE HOST DOWNLOADABLE FONTS WITH THE 4028 METRIC ONLY FONTS CONCATENATED BEHIND AND PLACE THAT DCFINDEX IN THE HOST DOWNLOADABLE FONT LIBRARY. IF THERE ARE DUPLICATE FONTS AND YOU WOULD PREFER THE RESIDENT FONTS OVER THE HOST FONT, FORMAT WITH THE 4028 METRIC ONLY FONTS IN FRONT OF THE HOST DOWNLOADABLE FONTS. IF YOU PREFER THE HOST DOWNLOADABLE FONTS BE USED IN THE CASE OF DUPLICATES, PLACE THEM FIRST. THIS WILL GUARANTEE THAT YOU GET THE FONT YOU EXPECT AND ALLOWS YOU TO MIX RESIDENT AND HOST DOWNLOADABLE FONTS IN THE SAME DOCUMENT. 2. 91/05/02 WHEN RUNNING LARGER JOBS, A CPU SECOND LIMIT MAY BE EXCEEDED CAUSING A TIME OUT. IF THIS OCCURS, RAISE THE CPU SECOND LIMIT. 1. 91/05/02 A DCF FAILURE CAN OCCUR WITH A RESULTING ABEND AFTER INSTALLING VM APAR VM38437 (UM14140 ON VOLID 9003) WHEN USING THE DCF PAGE OPTION WITH SUBPARAMETERS. DCF IS DOING ARITHMETIC INSTRUCTIONS ON THE VCON ADDRESS AND APAR VM38437 (PE) CHANGED HOW THE VCON ARE RESOLVED AT LOAD TIME. THIS PROBLEM IS CORRECTED BY APAR VM44499 (UM16536) ON VOLID 1000.
