If the Euro character is not displayed by your application, you need to determine from your operating system documentation how to add the Euro character to your system fonts. Windows 95/98 ------------- Follow these steps to check that the Euro character is enabled on your Windows 95/98 Infoprint Color 8 PostScript driver: a) select b) select c) select d) Click on the printer ICON with the right mouse button and select e) select the tab and verify that the check box next to the 'Add Euro Currency Symbol to PostScript Fonts' is checked. Windows NT 4.0 -------------- Follow these steps to check that the Euro character is enabled on your Windows 95/98 Infoprint Color 8 PostScript driver: a) select b) select c) select d) Click on the printer ICON with the right mouse button and select e)Select the "Device Settings" Tab. f) select the tab and verify that the check box next to the 'Add Euro Currency Symbol to PostScript Fonts' is checked . If the Euro character still does not print, open the printers Properties window and navigate to the 'Fonts' tab. Then select the radio button for 'Always Use True Type Fonts' setting. The Euro character option on the Infoprint Color 8 printer Op panel doesn't affect the printing of the Euro character from PostScript drivers. However, this setting must be set to "Enable" for the PCL 5c drivers to print the Euro character. o Printing multiple copies When multiple copies of a large single page document are required, the collation option should be turned off. Large documents with multiple copies typically print faster with collation off. You can select the collation option in the print window. Your performance will depend on the size of the file that you print. Number of Copies Selection: The number of copies requested should always be selected from the print dialog box of the application. This is recommended since print drivers will always override any copy selection from the physical front panel and print driver properties dialog box. o Screening When using desktop publishing packages such as QuarkXpress or PhotoShop, it is recommended that any application specific screening (halftoning) options are turned off. Applications that override the Infoprint Color 8 screening options do not guarantee optimum print quality. o Color Matching The printer drivers offer two different color matching systems. You can switch from "Printer Color matching" (default) to the "Heidelberg" color matching" from the printer setup window. When printing transparencies it is recommended that you select the color matching system that projects best with your overhead system. o Parallel Port ECP The IBM Infoprint Color 8 printer drivers are enabled for bi-directional printing over the parallel port. Some older workstations do not support bi-directional printing on their parallel port and bi-directional printing must be disabled. You can disable bi-directional support in the printer driver as follows: - For Windows 95/98: 1) select 2) select 3) select 4) right click on the printer ICON, for example, the IBM Infoprint Color 8 printer, 5) select . 6) From the printer Properties window, select the Details tab and select Spool Settings. 7) From the Spool Settings window, choose the radio button entitled "Disable Bi-directional Support for this Printer". 8) select on the Spool Settings window, 9) select on the Printer Properties window. - For Windows NT: 1) select 2) select 3) select 4) right click the printer ICON, for example, the IBM InfoPrint Color 8 printer and select . 5) From the Printer Properties window, select the Ports tab. 6) Highlight the selected printer (port). 7) From the Port tab window uncheck the "Enable Bi-directional Support for this Printer" check box. 8) select until you exit the printer property windows.
