You can use the Resource Connections view to display the connections between transactions and programs, or between CICS®, DB2®, IMS™, or MQ resources.
By default, the Resource Connections view displays a visual representation of the connections between program and transaction resources, and shows the connections from left to right. The view is interactive. You can right-click a program or transaction and select Show connections. A new Resource Connections view opens to show the connections for that program or transaction. The tab name displays the type and name of the resource. For example, Transaction (ABCD) - Resource Connections. You can open several connections tabs and switch between them to explore specific programs and transactions. To highlight a particular resource, you can enter the resource name, or partial name, in the filter box. When you type in the filter box, resources that do not match are automatically hidden (color fades). Removing the filter search text restores the original view. When you click a resource node or a connection, that element and its siblings are highlighted. If you position the mouse pointer over a connection line, further information about the call is displayed as hover help.
If a program is highlighted with an operation icon , this icon indicates that the program is a key resource. For example, the program might be
an application entry point, or the program might have more than one outgoing connection. The
operation icon indicates that if you are connected to a CICS system, you can modify the resource
definition for this program by using the CICS SM editor.
Right-click the program to display the menu, then click Open CICS SM
Editor.
To change the resources that are displayed in the view, and the layout of the diagram, you can use the toolbar icons.
To move around the view, use the scroll bars. Alternatively, you can use the Outline view, which provides a view of the complete contents of this view with reduced size resource elements.
To print the resource connections diagram, use the Print icon in the CICS
IA perspective toolbar.
In the following example screen, All Regions, Transactions, and Programs are selected in the resource filter list and the resources are grouped by region and platform.
