System requirements and prerequisites

The CICS IA Version 3.1.0.13 plug-in must be installed in the CICS Explorer™ V1.0.0.7.

Note: If you want to look at CICS IA V2.2 data that you have already collected using the CICS IA V3.1 plug-in, you must migrate the CICS IA V2.2 DB2® table to the CICS IA V3.1 format.

Updating an existing version of CICS IA plug-in

If you already have the CICS IA plug-in installed you can use the CICS Explorer Software Updates function to update the code to the latest level, without having to reinstall the product. Before updating the CICS IA plug-in, you must update the CICS Explorer to the latest level. If you do not, CICS IA plug-in might not work with the old version of CICS Explorer.
Note: If you are using the CICS IA plug-in V3.1.0.5 or V3.1.0.6 with CICS Explorer V1.0.0.4, V1.0.0.5, or V1.0.0.6 and you upgrade to CICS Explorer V1.0.0.7 your CICS IA plug-in will not run. You must upgrade your CICS IA plug-in to V3.1.0.13 if you upgrade your CICS Explorer to V1.0.0.7.

Downloading and installing the CICS IA plug-in

To download the CICS IA plug-in from the download Web site:
  1. Click the CICS IA plug-in V3.1.0.13 download link.
  2. Save the compressed file in a temporary directory. Do NOT extract the file. The CICS Explorer extracts the contents automatically.
To install the CICS IA plug-in in the CICS Explorer:
  1. Launch the CICS Explorer.
  2. Click Help on the CICS Explorer menu bar and click Software Updates in the drop-down menu. The Software Updates and Add-ons window is displayed.
  3. Click the Available Software tab.
  4. Click Add Site and in the Add Site dialog click Archive. The Repository archive dialog box is displayed.
  5. Locate and select the CICS IA plug-in compressed file you downloaded previously, and click Open.
  6. Click OK in the Add Site dialog box. The dialog box closes and the tool is displayed in the Software Updates and Add-ons dialog box.
  7. Select the check box alongside the tool name.
  8. Click Install.
  9. In the Install dialog box click Next to confirm the installation.
  10. Review the license and click the relevant radio button. Click Finish to complete the installation, or Cancel if you do not accept the license.
If you accepted the license, the CICS IA plug-in is installed into the CICS Explorer. You are prompted to restart the CICS Explorer. This ensures that the plug-in starts in a clean environment.

Getting started

When the CICS Explorer restarts the CICS Explorer perspective is displayed. To open the CICS IA perspective, click the Open Perspective, click Other, and click CICS IA.

If you are not familiar with CICS Interdependency Manager you can read the Getting Started information in the help documentation. Click Help > Help Contents > CICS IA Plug-in Users Guide > Basic Tutorial to display the basic tutorial for the CICS IA plug-in.
