You must enable the Switch Network Manager (SNM) software on the HMC if the Cluster 1600 is configured with the pSeries HPS. SNM initializes the pSeries HPS networks, monitors network status, performs recovery for hardware systems, and provides error reporting.
As a first step after installing or reconfiguring your cluster, you may use the Display Cluster components task to verify that all installed servers and switches are visible to the HMC.
Before enabling the SNM software, you must select the plane topology for your HPS network, using the Set Logical Topology task. You must choose from a list of supported topologies in order to enable the SNM software.
Before enabling the SNM software in normal mode, you may use the Enable SNM Software for Switch Network Verification task to identify that your HPS network is correctly wired and to verify that the hardware components are functional.
