1.0 INFORMATION FOR APAR SE50374

1.1  Problem Description
-------------------------------------------------------------------
    When using 7.1 System i Navigator to view statistics about a
    directory, the performance is very slow if the directory has a
    lot of files.
   
    Recreation steps:
    1) Start System i Navigator                      
    2) Expand a System
    3) Expand File Systems                                      
    4) Expand Integrated File System                                    
    5) Select a directory with a lot of files in it   
    6) Right click on the directory and select Properties 
    7) On the general tab, the total data size field is counted slowly. 

    This fix improves the performance for cases when the directory
    has a lot of files.

2.0 INSTALLATION NOTES

2.1 Applying the patch
-----------------------------------------------------

    On your PC where service pack SI44594 has been applied, perform the
    following steps:
    1) Close System i Navigator.
    2) Locate the installation directory for IBM i Access for Windows.
       Start -> All Programs -> IBM i Access for Windows -> 
                   -> IBM i Access for Windows Properties
       select General tab
       "Installed to directory:" contains the installation directory.
       (eg  C:\Program Files\IBM\Client Access )
    3) Locate the Classes sub directory below the installation directory
    4) Back up the current cwbunfsf.jar.  Either move it to another
       directory or rename it. (eg cwbunfsf.jar_old)
    5) Download the updated cwbunfsf.jar and place it in this directory.
    6) The installation is complete.




2.2 Removing the patch
---------------------------

   1) Close System i Navigator.
   2) Locate the installation directory for IBM i Access for Windows.
       Start -> All Programs -> IBM i Access for Windows -> 
                   -> IBM i Access for Windows Properties
       select General tab
       "Installed to directory:" contains the installation directory.
       (eg  C:\Program Files\IBM\Client Access )
   3) Locate the Classes sub directory below the installation directory
   4) Replace the cwbunfsf.jar file with the original copy you saved in
      step 4) above when "Applying the patch".

3.0 PERMANENT FIX DELIVERY

-------------------------------------------------------------------

The permanent fix will be delivered in the next V7R1 Service Pack scheduled
for May 2012. No special action (beyond installing that service pack) will
be necessary for the user to acquire this fix.
