1.0 INFORMATION FOR APAR SE48883

1.1  Problem Description

Environment: 6.1 System i Navigator with service pack SI42423.     

After installing IBM i Access 6.1 service pack SI42423, users are
unable to modify the permissions in the IFS root file system, QOpenSys,
home and many others. It still works in file system QDLS and QSYS.LIB.                               
                                                                                                                                          
When you open permissions on a directory, subdirectory or file and click
on an unchecked box (eg "write") the check mark is NOT set.      
When you click on a box which is checked (eg "read") the check
mark is NOT removed.                                                     
                                                                         
To recreate:                                         
1. Open System i Navigator                                                  
2. Expand "File Systems" --> "Integrated File Systems" --> "Root"         
3. Right click or expand one of the file systems (not QDLS or QSYS.LIB).
4. When you right click on "home" and select permissions, the permissions
   window is opened.                                         
5. Click on any unchecked box for any user.  You may temporarily see a check
   mark, but it does not remain checked.                                                              
   This can be done with any sub directory or file in the directory.     
6. Click on any box having a check mark, it will not be removed.

2.0 INSTALLATION NOTES

2.1 Applying the patch
-----------------------------------------------------

    Perform the following steps on your PC:
    1) Close System i Navigator if it's running.
    2) Enter the installation directory of IBM i Access for Windows.
       (eg  C:\Program Files\IBM\Client Access )
    3) Enter the Classes sub directory under the installation directory.
       (eg  C:\Program Files\IBM\Client Access\Classes )
    4) Backup the current cwbungse.jar file by moving it out of the Classes
       folder and put it into a safe place.
    5) Download the new cwbungse.jar and place it in this directory.
    6) The installation is complete.




2.2 Removing the patch
---------------------------
   Perform the following steps on your PC:
   1) Close System i Navigator if it is running.
   2) Enter the installation directory of IBM i Access for Windows.
      (eg  C:\Program Files\IBM\Client Access )
   3) Enter the Classes sub directory under the installation directory.
      (eg  C:\Program Files\IBM\Client Access\Classes )
   4) Replace the cwbungse.jar file with the original copy you previously saved.

3.0 PERMANENT FIX DELIVERY

-------------------------------------------------------------------

The permanent fix will be delivered in the next V7R1 Service Pack scheduled
for November 2011. No special action (beyond installing that service pack) will
be necessary for the user to acquire this fix.
