5722XE1 V5R4M0 IBM iSeries Access for Windows In this directory are the following fixes for V5R4M0 iSeries Access for Windows pertaining to the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) used by iSeries Navigator. These fixes are a new Java Runtime Environment (JRE) level 1.4.2 Service Release 8. JRE 1.4.2 Service Release 2 shipped with the original V5R4M0 iSeries Access for Windows media. APAR SE29861: CA400EXP-DATEBASE-INCORROUT JAPANESE WINDOWS VISTA, RUN SQL Using Japanese Windows Vista, Run SQL scripts fail to open, error message "cwbunnav.exe is stopped" is displayed. Please notice that there is currently not a PTF available that fixes APAR SE29861. A PTF for APAR SE29681 is scheduled for next iSeries Access for Windows service pack. This web download is provided to customers who need a fix for the problem described above before a PTF is available. Once a PTF is shipped, this readme will be updated with the PTF number. The PTF will contain the same JRE level provided by this web download. This fix ONLY applies to V5R4M0 service pack SI27741 or newer. Please do not attempt to apply this fix to any other release of iSeries Access for Windows, or any other service pack level. If you need to contact Service about problems with this new JRE level, you should mention that you have installed the JRE 1.4.2 SR 8 fix package, which can be determined by running java.exe -version (from the default folder of C:\Program Files\IBM\Client Access\JRE\bin ) The version of java.exe is 142.2007.3.17 with a modification date of March 17, 2007. Installation Instructions: -------------------------- Note: If you are concerned about uninstalling this fix and moving back to your previous level - do the following before installing: -- Copy the JRE directory in default folder C:\Program Files\IBM\Client Access into a new directory JREBAK When you have tested out the new JRE fixes successfully, you can delete JREBAK to free up disk space. 1. Be sure no iSeries Access function is in use. 2. Right click on the V5R4JRE142R8.ZIP file, and select Extract All.. 3. The Extraction Wizard will be displayed, click on Next to continue. 4. Type C:\Program Files\IBM\Client Access as the destination directory, click on Next. 5. After the files had been successfully extracted, click on Finish.
