5722XE1 V5R3M0 IBM iSeries Access for Windows In this directory is a fix for a V5R3M0 iSeries Access for Windows ODBC problem that is not in V5R3 service packs: APAR SE26220: CA400EXP-ODBC 2984 2986 INPUT LONG SYSTEM NAME The V5R3M0 ODBC Data Source Administrator function has an iSeries Access for Windows ODBC Setup panel for Data Source Names with a System input field. For the 2984 (English Mixed-Case DBCS) and 2986 (Korean DBCS) National Language Versions (NLVs), the System input field will not accept a long enough name, and limits the number of characters that can be typed in. RESOLUTION: This is fixed in V5R4. For V5R3, an updated cwboddlg.dll is placed on the following FTP site: ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/as400/products/clientaccess/win32/v5r3m0/files/odbc/SE26220/2984 *or* ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/as400/products/clientaccess/win32/v5r3m0/files/odbc/SE26220/2986 This only pertains to users of the following NLVs: -- 2984 English Mixed-Case DBCS -- 2986 Korean DBCS This fix ONLY applies to V5R3M0 NLVs 2984 and 2986 at any service pack level. Please do not attempt to apply this fix to any other release or NLV of iSeries Access for Windows. If you need to contact Service about problems with this cwboddlg.dll, you should mention that you are using a version of cwboddlg.dll with a modification date of June 30th, 2006. File replacement instructions ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1) Locate the file cwboddlg.dll on your client workstation. This file should be located in the Mri29xx directory (where 'xx' = '84', '86') under the iSeries Access for Windows install directory (for example, C:\Program Files\IBM\Client Access\Mri2986) 2) Rename cwboddlg.dll to cwboddlg.bak 3) Copy the fix version of cwboddlg.dll into the same directory. NOTE: Make sure the DLL from the 2984 FTP directory goes into Mri2984 or the DLL from 2986 FTP directory goes into Mri2986. For Advanced Users: The odbcmri1.cab and odbcmri1.hdr files are in compressed format, and contain the cwboddlg.dll fix. If you want to update your install image, so that subsequent users installing from this V5R3 image automatically get this fix after installing, you can copy odbcmri1.cab and odbcmri1.hdr from this FTP directory into your install image, replacing the existing files. Make sure that you only do this for a 2984 or 2986 install image, and copy the appropriate files from the FTP directory that matches your 2984 or 2986 needs.
