Font Tuning Utility Install information 1. Download FONTER.EXE from http://www.as400.ibm.com/clientaccess/cadownld.htm 2. Store in AS/400 Client Access' Emulator Directory. For example: C:/Program Files/IBM/Client Access/Emulator To Start 1. Double click on FONTER.EXE How to Use If you have specific concerns you may contact IBM Support line for consultation on how to use this utility. 1. Select Configure -> Workstation Files 2. Select Printer workstation profile to modify (eg, *.ws files) 3. Click OK to any message which comes up 4. Select File -> Save As and give the PCSPD. DAT file another name. You do this so that you can restore back to original values if needed. If you do this you will need to add the following statement into the workstation (.WS) profile. [Printer] C:\Program Files\IBM\Client Acces\Emulator\private\modifiedpcspd.dat 5. Select Font to modify by double clicking on the GFID name 6. Make changes desired, press Apply, then press OK Note: You may test the results by pressing Print after pressing Apply 7. Once you have Font modified you MUST save the File again, File -> Save Explanation of fields Typeface--This combo box contains all available font names that the printer driver can work with. You can either type in a specific font name or pick a name from the drop-down list. Pitch--This combo box contains three possible values: DEFAULT, FIXED, and VARIABLE. PC5250 prefers to deal with the FIXED pitch. Family--This combo box contains all known family names to choose from. PC5250 prefers to deal with the MODERN family. CharSet (Character Set)--This combo box contains all known Windows defined character sets. Here you can ask for the font that supports Greek, Cyrillic, Turkish, etc. Width--This edit box contains character width in twips. For example: 144 twips is interpreted as 10.00 CPI. Height--This edit box contains character height in twips. Weight--This edit box contains character weight measured from 0 to 1000. Practically speaking, however, it is usually Normal - 400, or BOLD - 700. Style--This edit box allows you to specify that the character should be italicized. This is done if the value is different from 0.
