WebFacing Survey Tool Readme - October 2001

This tool surveys your DDS source to see:

  1. how much of it is supported in the current level of WebFacing, and,

  2. when support for the remainder of the keywords may be expected.

To use this SURVEY tool on a V4R5 or V5R1 iSeries host, please do the following:

  1. If you do not have an older version of this tool installed on your system, please skip this step and go on to step 2. Otherwise, do the following to remove the original SURVEY library .
    1. Using DSPLIBL, check the library list to ensure there is no SURVEY library in your library list.
    2. If there is a SURVEY library listed, use the CHGLIBL command, then press F4 to remove SURVEY from the list.
    3. Delete the SURVEY library using the command: DLTLIB SURVEY.
  2. Download the following file survey.savf to your PC from the Web Site.

  3. FTP the save file to the iSeries host:

    1. Create an empty Save File on AS/400:

          CRTSAVF FILE(SURVEY) LIBRARY(your_library_name)

    2. From a DOS window, enter: FTP host_name

    3. In the FTP session, enter BIN to switch to binary mode and enter:

            CD your_library_name

      to change to that library.

    4. In the FTP session, enter:

         PUT SURVEY.SAVF SURVEY

    5. In the FTP session, enter QUIT to exit.

  4. Restore the library SURVEY from that save file by issuing the following command:

        RSTLIB LIB(SURVEY) DEV(*SAVF) SAVF(your_library_name/SURVEY)

  5. Include the library SURVEY in your library list or change that library to your current library. You can do this by issuing the following commands:

        ADDLIBLE LIB(SURVEY)

    or

       CHGCURLIB CURLIB(SURVEY)

  6. Use the SURVEY command to run this tool. In the Prompt screen, fill in your company name as the first parameter and provide the name of the library containing your DDS source as the second parameter. This command will check all the DSPF type members in every Physical File and count the DDS Keywords.

  7. Use WRKSPLF to check the result. The spool file name is QSYSPRT and the user-specified data of that file is WEBFACING.
