1.0 Prerequisites IBM WebSphere Development Studio Client Lite technology preview V6.0.1 requires either:
WebSphere
Development Studio Client Lite V6.0.1 technology preview is an optional
feature that can be installed after the of WebSphere
Development Studio Client or WebSphere Development
Studio Client Advanced Edition has been installed. This technology preview creates a separate, copy of the Workbench that only contains Eclipse (branded as the Rational Software Development Platform), the
Remote System Explorer and the iSeries integrated debugger. This is a
technology preview of future packaging and installation options for
WebSphere Development Studio Client. The technology preview is only available for install from the Rational Product Updater.
Start
the IBM Rational Product Updater from the Start menu, "Start"
> "All Programs" > "IBM Rational" >
"Rational Product Updater" and select the "Optional Features" tab. Select the technology preview and click "Install Features".
The technology preview can be uninstalled from the Rational Product Updater.
Start
the IBM Rational Product Updater from the Start menu, "Start"
> "All Programs" > "IBM Rational" >
"Rational Product Updater" and select the "Rollbacks" tab. Select the technology preview and click "Roll Back Updates".
If the prerequisite product has been uninstalled, the technology preview can also be removed without the Rational Product Updater.
Start the manual uninstall by selecting "Uninstall IBM WDSC Lite" from the Start menu, "Start"
> "All Programs" > "IBM Rational" >
"IBM WebSphere Development Studio Client Lite technology preview
V6.0.1" > "Uninstall IBM WDSC Lite".

Warning: The technology preview will not function if one of the prerequisites is removed.
2.0 General Information
The WebSphere Development Studio Client Lite technology preview V6.0.1
is intended for native iSeries developers who do not have a need for the
Web, WebFacing, XML, and Data tools contained inside the full version.
This creates a simpler workbench interface and reduces the memory
requirements required to run the Lite version to 256 MB. Users can
easily switch between running the full and Lite versions of WebSphere
Development Studio Client.

4.0 Applying Updates
Updates cannot be applied directly to the technology preview. A two step process is required to apply updates to this technology preview which requires updates to be applied to WDSC first.
Step 1: Update WDSC
This
technology preview is supported through one of the prerequisite
products listed above. Only portions of the above mentioned
prerequisites that pertain to the Remote System Explorer and the iSeries
integrated debugger will be
updated.
Also, due to the unpredictability of 3rd party products, no functionality provided by products other than WebSphere
Development Studio Client or WebSphere Development
Studio Client Advanced Edition may function correctly in this technology preview.
