If you have a beta version of WebSphere Development Studio Client for iSeries, or any version of WebSphere Development Tools, please remove it before installing WebSphere Development Studio Client for iSeriesVersion 6.0
In this release, the CoOperative Development Environment (CODE) and VisualAge RPG are shipped on a separate CD and are separately installable. There is no requirement to install the full WebSphere Development Studio Client product when using the classic tools only. Please refer to the CODE and VisualAge RPG Installation Guide. If you cannot access the Web site, look for file cinstall.htm in the root directory of the CODE and VisualAge RPG CD for details.
Since WebSphere Development Studio Client for iSeries is built on IBM Rational Web Developer V6.0, the default is to install the product code in a folder called IBM\ Rational in your workstation Program Files directory. If you accepted the installation defaults, you can expand the local directory:
\Program Files\IBM\Rational\SDP\6.0
The Start menu contains a shortcut for the product in the IBM Rational folder. When you expand this folder, you can see the IBM WebSphere Development Studio Client for iSeries V6.0 subfolder.. This contains the Installation Guide, Migration Guide, Readme file and the product shortcut.
To start, click Start->Programs->IBM Rational->IBM WebSphere Development Studio Client for iSeries V6.0 -> WebSphere Development Studio Client for iSeries.
Refer to the Migration Guide for information on migrating from WebSphere Development Studio Client Version 5.1 or 5.1.2. You can also find additional information in the form of technotes on the IBM Support Web site http://www.ibm.com/software/awdtools/wdt400/support.

Updates, limitations, and known problems about WebSphere Development Studio Client for iSeries, Version 6.0, are documented in the form of technotes on the IBM Support Web site http://www.ibm.com/software/awdtools/wdt400/support.
As limitations and problems are discovered and resolved, the IBM Software Support team updates the knowledge base. By searching the knowledge base, you can quickly find workarounds or solutions to problems that you experience. The Technotes link in the Self Help section of the WebSphere Development Studio Client for iSeries Web site launches a customized query of the live Support knowledge base. To narrow your search, specify V6 as the search term. To create your own query, go to the Advanced search page on the IBM Software Support Web site.

Starting with Version 5.1.2, the index.html file has been replaced with index.jsp. Once placed in your project, the index.jsp is not updated by the WebFacing Tool. The changes to the html to add or remove program launch entries are done to a separate file, invocations.jsp, that is included by index.jsp. When a program invocation is added or removed, the invocations.jsp file is regenerated but index.jsp is not changed. If you wish to customize the appearance of your index.jsp file and not have it change when CL commands are added or removed, you can delete the inclusion of the invocations.jsp and copy the parts of invocations.jsp that you need into the index.jsp. Then you can customize index.jsp to suit your needs.
The default way to invoke a CL program in Version 5.1.2 is to use a form. If you have parameters, the form submission correctly handles the submission of them as well. To invoke your converted application from outside of the Web application, you can get the proper format of the form using the browser's View source option when the index.jsp page is displayed.
With imported projects that had a customized index.html page, we recommend that you do the customizations to the index.jsp page. The index.html page should still work with the imported project but it is not updated by WebFacing with any changes to CL commands. To use your old index.html page, either point your browser to it directly (http://your-server/your-app/index.html) or update the welcome file list in the Web application's web.xml file.

If the problem you submit is for a software defect or for missing or inaccurate documentation, IBM Software Support creates an Authorized Program Analysis Report (APAR). The APAR describes the problem in detail. Whenever possible, IBM Software Support provides a workaround that you can implement until the APAR is resolved and a fix is delivered.
