About the Welcome Center

The RS/6000 Welcome Center is a software package that provides a friendly introduction to the RS/6000 and NT product families.

Installing the Welcome Center to your system

Follow these simple steps to install the Welcome Center to your system.

  1. Read the license agreement.

  2. Download the WELCOME.EXE install image to the C:\ directory.

  3. Type the following commands at the command prompt in your DOS window.

    cd c:\

    WELCOME.EXE -d (this will extract your files and put them in c:\welcome)

    cd %SystemRoot%

    copy c:\welcome\system\start_wc.lnk "Profiles\All Users\Desktop\Welcome Center.lnk"

Running the installed Welcome Center

Follow the steps below to run the Welcome Center.

  1. Click on "Welcome Center" on the desktop - The Internet Explorer will be invoked with the main Welcome Center page displayed.
  2. Suggestion: To make the Welcome Center easier to view, please make the Internet Explorer window full-screen.
