May be specific to AIX 6.1. PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Crash in sna_mux64. dump stack: [F1000000A07BC630]sna_mux64:v62_path_callback+0005B0 (0100000001000000, 0FFFFFFFF00FF990, F10006001C9D7D60) [F1000000A071FCA0]sna_ddpmgr64:vpm_rcv_ips+00027C (F100070002143700) [F1000000A0720D04]sna_ddpmgr64:vpm_rcv_msg+000068 (F100070002143800) [F1000000A071F42C]sna_ddpmgr64:sna_p_vpm_stream_r_svc+00002C (F1000700004DD000) [F1000000A02665F4]pse:sq_wrapper+000134 (??) [F1000000A0267240]pse:scheduled_run+000100 () PROBLEM SUMMARY: The crash occurs when starting an application that uses the back-level APPC API. If the 64-bit code segment in the kernel uses addresses over 0xffffffff then the crash will occur. PROBLEM CONCLUSION: Code has been corrected to allow use of memory addresses higher that 0xffffffff. Also included in this package are fixes for the following APARs: NONE More detail about each APAR can be found by performing a search for the APAR number at http://www.ibm.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------ PREREQUISITES: This package requires fileset sna.rte at the 6.3.1.0 level. To determine if the prequisite level is installed, use the command: lslpp -L "sna.rte" If the output indicates a level other that 6.3.1.0, you will need to update to the required level or obtain the version of this fix appropriate to the installed level. Product updates can be obtained from http://www.ibm.com/software/network/commserver/aix/support ------------------------------------------------------------------------ INSTALLATION This package uses the AIX emgr tool for managing interim fixes. For more information, see AIX documentation and man pages for the emgr command. - Download the fix package in binary format. - Login as root. - Install prerequisite level updates as necessary. - Install the interim fix using the command: emgr -e IZ47857.090331.epkg.Z A system reboot is required for the fix to take effect. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Installing this fix will lock one or more of the SNA filesets, which will prevent further installation of fixes, PTFs, or other maintenance. In case a previous fix for CS/AIX is installed, check to be sure none of the sna filesets are locked by an efix. Use the command lslpp -L 'sna.*' and check the State column. If any fileset has an E in the State column, then the fileset is locked and cannot be updated until the lock is cleared. Any attempt to update the locked fileset will fail with a message similar to the following: The following selected filesets are locked by EFIX manager: sna.rte installp has halted this operation because one or more files in the filesets listed above are registered as having an EFIX. You must remove these EFIXES before performing operations on the given fileset. To get a listing of all locked filesets and the locking EFIX label, execute the following command: # /usr/sbin/emgr -P To remove the relevant EFIX, execute the following command: # /usr/sbin/emgr -r -L For more information on EFIX management, see the emgr man page and AIX documentation. To clear the lock, follow the instructions provided in the message above. Then proceed with the installation. To obtain more information about the EFIX before removing it, execute the following command: # /usr/sbin/emgr -l -L -v3 To verify whether the fix is included in a later update, visit the CS/AIX Support site at http://www.ibm.com/software/network/commserver/aix/support/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ * CONTACT FOR Support: * ____________________ * * If you have any questions, please call the IBM AIX SUPPORT CENTER * for your Country.
