Usage Statement ================== The downloadable XL Fortran Advanced Edition V9.1 for Linux Run-Time Environment Component is not warranted. This Program contains run-time components that is to be used only by applications developed with IBM XL Fortran Advanced Edition for Linux. Prerequisites ================= IBM XL Fortran Advanced Edition V9.1 for Linux Run-Time Environment Component is compatible with the following operating systems: - Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS for POWER V3 (RHEL 3), Update 3 - SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 9 for POWER (SLES 9) III. Installation Instructions ============================== To install the IBM XL Fortran Advanced Edition V9.1 for Linux Run-Time Environment Component, complete the following steps: 1. Download, unzip (with gunzip), and untar the rpm packages. example: gunzip xlf.rte.91.sles9.mmmYYYY.update.tar.gz tar -xvf xlf.rte.91.sles9.mmmYYYY.update.tar where: mmm is the month YYYY is the year 2. You must uninstall any previous versions of the rpms already installed on your system. Do not uninstall rpms that you are not upgrading. To uninstall an rpm package, use the following command: rpm -e You must uninstall rpm packages in the following order: rpm -e xlf.rte-x.x.x-x rpm -e xlf.msg.rte-x.x.x-x rpm -e xlsmp.rte-1.x.x-x rpm -e xlsmp.msg.rte-1.x.x-x where: x refers to the level of the rpm package installed on your system. To determine the level, use the following commands: rpm -q xlf.rte rpm -q xlf.msg.rte rpm -q xlsmp.rte rpm -q xlsmp.msg.rte In cases where an rpm package is required by other installed packages, as it occurs if you have XL C/C++ Advanced Edition V7.0 for Linux installed on the same system, the package may not uninstall. To upgrade a shared package, specify the --nodeps option with your rpm command. For example: rpm -e --nodeps xlsmp.rte.1.5.0-0 3. Deinstallation Instructions =============================== If you do not require the XL Fortran Advanced Edition V9.1 for Linux Run-Time Environment Component, uninstall the component as follows: rpm -e xlf.rte-9.1.x-x rpm -e xlf.msg.rte-9.1.x-x rpm -e xlsmp.rte-1.5.x-x rpm -e xlsmp.msg.rte-1.5.x-x where x represents the version number.
